Quell is on a mission to make fitness gaming incredible. Our launch title lets you get fit fighting, running, leaping and dodging your way through an unforgettable fantasy world. We’ve built a game-changing wearable device which adds resistance, powerful haptics and motion tracking to the player’s actions without the need for a VR set-up.

The market is massive; our pre-launch marketing has already generated $1.5m in preorder revenue. We’ve secured over $15m in funding from top-tier VCs and angels, including Khosla Ventures and the founders of Twitch.

YOUR MISSION.

Quell are looking for a talented environment concept artist to join our growing team, working on a brand new IP combining fitness with gaming.

As an environment concept artist at Quell your mission is to create stunning environment art for a fantasy inspired fitness game. You will visualise creative ideas, empower the art-team, and help build out the world and narrative of the game.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Create environment concepts and key art for our launch game, Shardfall.
  • Work with the games team to provide visual and creative solutions to Art and Design problems.
  • Generate creative ideas for new worlds, assets and civilisations - clearly communicating them to the wider team.
  • Use a range of artistic approaches to create your art, depending on the task or goal - thumbnails, sketches, 3D paintovers, storyboards and renders.
  • WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.

  • 3+ years of experience in an environment concept art position.
  • Experience in games development.
  • Excellent knowledge of art fundamentals and their application - composition, perspective, scale, form, value, colour, architecture.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in fantasy environment creation.
  • Excellent communication - you can clearly articulate thoughts and ideas and transform written or verbal feedback into clear visuals.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with cross-discipline teams to meet product goals.
  • Accurate task estimation and mitigation for future problems.
  • Keen to join a young, dynamic start-up and actively participate in our culture.

  • Experience in art storyboarding.
  • Experience with creative and narrative world building.
  • Experience creating 2D in-game art.
  • Experience working in early stage start-ups.
